Members of the Standing Committee on Constitution and Legal Affairs Committee have commended the work of Policy Forum’s Local Government Working Group members in preparing a booklet that will help sensitize citizens on the constitutional review process entitled "Mwelekeo wa katiba Mpya Tanzania: Tulipotoka, Tulipo na Tuendako" The appreciation was expressed during the launch of the publication that took place on the 6th of November 2016 at the African Dreams Hotel in Dodoma.
On 14th January 2013, Policy Forum Secretariat with some of its members namely the Tanzania Forest Conservation Group, UNGO, Human Development Trust, Restless Development, Forum Syd and the Kibaha Network of Civil Society met with the Constitutional Review Commission to present their suggestions to be incorporated in the new constitution.
1. Use of English Language in the proposed bill. The bill could have been written in Kiswahili which is understood by all Tanzanians. More than 80% can neither speak nor read English. As such, it will be difficult for them to understand the legal technicalities used in the Constitutional Review Act. We recommend that the bill be written in Kiswahili Language.
