Tanzania Civil Society Report on the Sustainable Development Goals

Since the Tanzania Sustainable Development Platform (TSDP) was first convened in 2015, our mission has been to create a movement on SDGs in the Tanzania Civil Society Sector, by providing a platform for coordination, multi-stakeholders engagement, and experience sharing. Our goal is to ensure meaningful and impactful engagement and contribution of civil society organizations in the implementation, follow up and review of SDGs in Tanzania.

Leaving No One Behind: Tanzania Commitment to Reduce Inequality Index country profile

There is a strong case for strengthening policies to fight inequality in Tanzania. In recent years, income inequality has increased, as has its concentration into the hands of the wealthiest. It is therefore concerning that Tanzania’s overall commitment to fighting inequality needs more effort. It currently ranks 130th of 158 countries globally, and 12th of 15 in SADC.

The United Nations Association of Tanzania is one of the oldest Civil Society Organizations in the country registered in 1964. It’s office is located in Mikocheni street, Mikocheni B, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

The organization is entirely devoted to supporting the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, promoting public awareness and understanding of the activities of United Nations and its agencies. Moreover, it strives for the recognition of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms throughout the Tanzania and the World.

Strengthening Partnerships to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030

Policy Analyst from the Ministry of Finance and Planning , Mr. Francis Shirima lamented that the pace of SDGs implementation is still slow in Tanzania. This is  because the nation lacks a  coordination framework to ensure that the government works closely with different stakeholders although the framework is on initiation process by the Ministry of Finance and Planning.
