Recognizing that violence and harassment in the world of work can constitute a human rights violation/abuse, and that violence/harassment is unacceptable and incompatible with the decent work agenda, the International Labor Organization (ILO) adopted Convention on Violence and Harassment (No. 190) in June 2019 during the International Labor Conference. The Convention has set a basis for legal protection of all workers, to work in a secure workplace that is free from any forms of violence, abuse or harassment.

The March 2021 BD platform created a space for informing key stakeholders on the Convention and its significance in ending gender-based violence in workplaces and influencing the state actors to ratify the Convention.
