Official Introduction of the Citizen Empowerment Project to Strengthen Inclusive Governance in Tanzania

In a significant step toward strengthening inclusive governance in Tanzania, a civic empowerment project funded by the Embassy of Finland in Tanzania through its Fund for Local Cooperation was formally introduced to the NGOs Registrar and the Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government in Dodoma. The initiative seeks to enhance democratic governance and promote equitable development through more transparent, inclusive, and accountable use of public resources in Lindi and Mtwara Regions.

Actions for Democracy and Local Governance (ADLG) is a dully registered national nongovernment organisation (NGO) advocating for active citizens participation, local democracy and governance in Tanzania. The establishment of ADLG was highly motivated by the readings of Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Tanzania’s local governance structure and practices, politics, elections and respective political decisions that affect welfare and livelihood of rural, poor and marginalized Tanzanians.
