On 4th October 2012 Policy Forum in collaboration with Forum Syd and MSTDC organised a Social Accountability stakeholders meeting which took place at the Peacock Hotel in Dar es Salaam

The meeting brought together stakeholders like AcT, Policy Forum, PMORALG, Repoa,Twaweza Uwezo, Hakikazi Catalyst, PSAM and Foundation for Civil for Civil Society (FCS). The objective of the meeting was to enable various stakeholders to share different approches used to enhance accountability in various aspects: To explore the basic understanding, principles and paradigms of social accountability across various stakeholders in Tanzania; Assess effectiveness of PETS guidelines in promoting social accountability and be aware of sector specific social accountability initiatives.

Also, the meeting aimed to bring together different stakeholders/cso's who are implementing SAM in their respective countries to debate/discuss and come up with a common approach and mechanisms that will enhance social accountability.

All in all, participants agreed that there are different ways to ensure social accountability and citizen's empowerment as a means to reduce poverty for example the government of Tanzania has introduced PETS amomg many other iniatives in order to increase inorder to increase accountability and enhance citizen's participation in development process especially at the local government level.
